Create a Table - Table Properties


  1. to design the table format:

    1. Click on the New Table button.
      The Table Properties box is displayed.


      Note
      You will not see the Table Properties box if you have set your Preferences to insert HTML elements with the default settings

    2. In the Table Properties box set the table format:

      1. Border
        To place a rim or border around the table and each cell, leave the check mark in the "Shown" box.


      Note
      1. If you do not want to use a border, you can use the Show Format Marks button on the Formatting Toolbar to display a dotted line border while you design the table. See View Menu, Show Format Marks for more information on this option.
      2. The border appearance depends on the browser that you are using.

      1. Size
        Use the Size box to increase the thickness of the border.

      2. Alignment
        Normal table alignment stretches the table between the left and right side of the screen as you add text to each cell. Click the Left button to align the table along the left margin; or, Right buttton to align the table along the right margin.

      3. Width
        Type the maximum width of the table in either percent or pixels to control the table width. To place the table on half of the page set the width to 50%.

      4. Border Space Outside Cell
        Changes the border spacing between each cell, type a number in pixels.

      5. Padding Inside Cell
        Sets the pixel spacing or padding inside the cell.

      6. Height
        Sets the table height in pixels.

      7. Initial Cell Configuration
        Sets the number of columns and rows for the table.

        The table below has three Rows and three Columns.

      8. Caption
        Adds a caption above or below the table.

      9. Surrounding Paragraph Alignmment
        Set the alignment of the entire table. Default and left places the table at the left margin, center places the table in the middle, right aligns the table at the right margin.

      10. Click on OK.
        The table is displayed on the screen.

  2. To edit or change any of the table or cell properties:

    Click on the Right Click Pop-Up menu or use the Edit menu to access Table Properties and Cell Properties.
